1. Local Phone Numbers - Please make sure FKEC always has your current telephone number(s), including cell phones. Phone numbers are used by our automated outage reporting system to pinpoint the location of problems.
2. Energy Charge - This charge of $0.023 per kilowatt hour helps FKEC cover the expenses involved in delivering energy to your homes and businesses.
3. Customer Charge - This fixed monthly charge of $10 for residential accounts is a "service availability charge." It covers the facility costs involved in having power available to each active meter.
4. Power Cost - This charge is the cost of power purchased by FKEC from Florida Power & Light (FPL), our primary supplier of electricity. Power cost is passed directly to FKEC members with no mark-up or add-on. Power cost varies monthly and also includes FKEC’s own generating costs from our Marathon Generation Facility.
5. Equity Charge - This rate rider helps the Co-op offset the steadily increasing cost of the materials, services and insurances required to maintain safe, reliable power.
6. Security Light Charge - If you ordered a street light, the kilowatt hours used by the light are noted to the left of the charge amount. This figure is multiplied by the power cost and added to the monthly rental to determine the total charge.

7. Load Management Credit - To help FKEC manage peak power demand, members can enroll in the "Power Pause" program to install load management devices on their air conditioners and water heaters. This enables FKEC to cycle the units remotely in return for a monthly bill credit.
8. Security Light Sales Tax - State sales tax for street light rental.
9. Gross Receipt Tax - This 2.563% tax is assessed to every bill from the state of Florida.
10. Operation Round-Up - This voluntary program rounds your electric bill up to the next whole dollar. All funds collected are distributed by the volunteer board of the Members Charitable Trust. One hundred percent of the funds benefit your friends and neighbors in need in the Middle and Upper Keys.
11. Total Due/Delinquent Date - Members paying their bills by check or credit card will see a delinquent date printed in this area. To automatically pay your bill each month on the due date – without checks or postage – sign up for FKEC's Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) program to pay your bill automatically each month. |
