Three FKEC employees recently earned new responsibilities. Mike Jenkins and Rudy Vega were promoted to Apprentice Linemen and Pamela Subic moved from Consumer Accounts to the Meter Department.
Mike Jenkins, promoted to Apprentice Lineman, joined FKEC almost three years ago. Jenkins has earned bucket operation certification and completed training in tree trimming, safety, first aid and CPR, and pole climbing. Jenkins also serves our community as a lieutenant with Key Largo Volunteer Fire Rescue. He became a firefighter in 1986 after moving from New Jersey. He lives in Key Largo with his wife and two children.
Rudy Vega, also promoted to Apprentice Lineman, is a Coral Shores graduate. Vega joined the Right-of-Way tree trimming crew two years ago and began earning training in a range of skills, including pole climbing, safety, CPR, and tree pruning. As an apprentice, he will now learn more advanced skills like power line repair and construction. Originally from El Salvador, Vega now lives in Key Largo and has a three-year-old son.
Pamela Subic is now a Meter Reader. Before joining the Co-op more than two years ago, she worked for Northwestern Rural Electric Cooperative in Pennsylvania for 22 years. When she moved to the Keys, she approached FKEC about a position because she enjoys the cooperative spirit and family atmosphere.
