FKEC recently honored Maria Jones as the second recipient of its new
"Illumination Award."
Jones was selected for the award not only for performing well in the four
different positions she has held at the company, but also for willingly
offering her time in countless other ways.
"Maria teaches the "cooperative way" by providing a good example for
everyone around her," said FKEC CEO Tim Planer.
Jones was nominated by her fellow employees and selected for the award
based on: outstanding service to FKEC, community service, daily
performance, attitude, personal growth, safety record and loyalty.
Jones has served her fellow employees and represented their interests on the
Employee Health Insurance Committee, the Employee Appreciation Committee,
the Christmas Decorating Committee and the Safety Breakfast Committee. For
the past year and a half, she has also volunteered her time to contribute to
the Tavernier portion of FKEC's "Watt's New" Digital Newsletter. Every week
she gathers breaking news and photos to create Tavernier's slides, and also
makes sure her co-workers' birthdays and anniversaries are recognized.
"In addition to her committee work, Maria has also volunteered each year to
help with the District Elections and the Annual Meetings," said Planer. "Our
employee's participation in these annual events that are critical to FKEC's
continued interaction with our community is greatly appreciated."
Jones joined FKEC five years ago. She began in the Billing department but
soon transferred to Engineering where she worked as Engineering Secretary
and then as an AUTOCAD Technician. Earlier this year Jones was again
promoted, this time to Tavernier Member Service Representative.
Jones is a Coral Shores graduate and long-time Keys resident. She and her
husband Ronnie reside in Key Largo.
