EQUIPMENT FAILURE CAUSES POWER OUTAGE IN KEY LARGO & TAVERNIER

At 2:58 p.m., parts of Key Largo and Tavernier experienced a localized power outage as the result of equipment failure in the Key Largo Substation. Power was out from mile marker 92 to 103 on the bayside and from mile marker 92 to 101 on the oceanside.

FKEC crews were immediately dispatched to isolate the problem and bypass the failed piece of equipment. Power was restored at 3:37 p.m.

The outage lasted 39 minutes.
