CONTRACTORS SETTING TREES CAUSE KEY LARGO OUTAGE
On June 5 at 3:03 p.m., contractors setting palm trees in front of the Howard Johnson in Key Largo placed a tree between two phases of the distribution line, damaging both phases.
The fault resulted in a Key Largo transmission outage for 10 minutes. Longer outages affected nearby residents and businesses for approximately 20 minutes while crews worked to reroute power. About 75 consumers in Key Largo Trailer Village and Caloosa Campground experienced a longer outage while the two phases of the line were repaired.
Also on June 5 at 7:55 a.m., there was a localized outage in the Port Largo area when a piece of equipment failed on a distribution pole. The outage was approximately 20 minutes.
