KEY LARGO POWER SHUT DOWN DUE TO PROPANE LEAK
Initial Outage Report:
Due to the propane tank leak at Homestead Gas in Key Largo, Florida Keys Electric Cooperative shut down the distribution circuit that provides power from the county line down to George Street at about Mile Marker 104 on the bayside early this morning. Only FKEC members located on the bayside are affected by this outage.
Both main transmission lines from the mainland remain in service at this time but precautionary measures have been taken to ensure public safety should the transmission line be affected. FKEC will re-energize the affected area as soon as emergency management officials indicate that the area can be safely restored.
Power Restored Report:
Florida Keys Electric Cooperative has restored power to the area affected by the gas leak at Homestead Gas. The 1,700 members from the county line down to George Street at about Mile Marker 104 on the bayside were restored at 11:17 a.m. when emergency management officials indicated that the area could be safely restored.
