FKEC Honors Rhash with "Illumination Award"
Florida Keys Electric Cooperative recently honored Ray Rhash as the fourth recipient of its employee "Illumination Award."
Rhash was nominated for the award based on: outstanding service to FKEC, community service, daily performance, attitude, personal growth, safety record and loyalty.
"What really makes this award special is the fact that the recipient is recognized and nominated by his or her peers and co-workers," said CFO Cris Beaty. "Ray is held in very high regard and respected as a leader by those in his profession."
The nomination submitted for Rhash noted not only the length of his career with FKEC but also the diversity of his experience and his constant effort to improve himself.
Rhash joined FKEC in 1987 as an Equipment Operator and then became an Apprentice Lineman. Several years later he moved to the Marathon Warehouse as Work Leader and then Marathon Warehouse Manager. This background prepared him for a promotion to Work Order Specialist in the Tavernier headquarters. He was recently promoted again to Planning Rate & Budget Analyst.
Also noted in Rhash’s nomination was his community involvement. He has served as First Vice President on the Board of the Marathon Chamber of Commerce, is a past member of the City of Marathon Affordable Housing Task Force and a graduate of Leadership Monroe County Class XIII. Rhash is an active member of the Upper Keys Rotary Club and participates in the Kairos State Prison Ministry. He is also completing a B.A. in Accounting.
"This award is presented to an employee who has demonstrated both superior work achievement for the betterment of the Cooperative and a dedication to community service for the betterment of the community," Beaty said. "Ray brings a positive, can-do attitude to his duties as FKEC and to his community work."
