OUTAGE REPORT: North Key Largo Outage Report
Wind and rain caused a distribution outage on Sunday, April 15, at 1:19 a.m. affecting North Key Largo and Ocean Reef.
Bad weather caused a breaker to operate normally in the Oz Moody Substation, but the breaker did not reclose due to a failed close coil.
All customers were restored via external manual switching at 2:26 a.m. after an outage lasting an hour and seven minutes.
Upon further inspection, the associated relay was also found to have failed due to the burned up close coil. The coil and relay have now been replaced.
Florida Keys Electric Cooperative is a not-for-profit cooperative utility serving 31,000 members in the Upper and Middle Keys.
