Thunderstorm Causes Scattered Outages in Key Largo
An intense thunderstorm blew through the Key Largo area on the evening of June 13 causing scattered power outages in several neighborhoods.
In the Port Largo area, a tarp blew into the power lines causing an outage from Port Largo to Publix on the oceanside. Once the tarp was discovered, power was restored in 1 hour and 11 minutes.
At approximately the same time, a fault in Adobe Casa Court caused a local outage that was complicated by a defective main line fuse. The line was restored in 30 minutes and power was restored to Adobe Casa in a little over an hour.
In Pirate's Cove, two streets experienced an outage after a transformer fuse blew on Jolly Roger Drive. That street was out for a little over an hour. The second street, Arica Drive, also had a back-lot secondary line go down, causing that street to be out for over two hours.
One of FKEC's linemen in the area also reported a small tornado during the storms.
