FKEC Welcomes Kirby as Job Training & Safety Manager
Florida Keys Electric Cooperative welcomes Tom Kirby as Job Training & Safety Manager. Kirby joins FKEC from the Florida cooperative family. He has 35 years of cooperative experience and 26 years as a safety director for Clay Electric Cooperative in Keystone Heights, Fla. He is a Certified Utility Safety Administrator through the National Safety Council and a Certified Safety Accreditation on-site inspector for the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA).
At Clay Electric, Kirby managed the co-op's safety program for more than 400 employees. For the past 17 years, he also directed the employee training program including both technical and lineman development training programs.
"I'm very excited about joining the FKEC family and I look forward to working with all our employees in continuing the great safety tradition that has been established here," Kirby said. "The Cooperative spirit is evident here with the warm welcome I've received."
Before joining a utility, Kirby served two years in the U.S. Army and earned Associate degrees in both Civil Engineering and Education. He is an active member of the National Utility Training and Safety Education Association and a member of the American Society of Safety Engineers.
