Richard Norton Retires After 26 Years

Long time employee Richard Norton recently retired from Florida Keys Electric Cooperative after 26 years of dedicated service. At his retirement party, Norton was presented a gold watch by Chief Executive Officer Scott Newberry.

Marathon General Line Foreman Craig Rabito also said kinds words about his work with Norton and helped Newberry present a engraved golf club along with other gifts from his co-workers.

"Men like Norton are the backbone of companies like FKEC," said Newberry. "He will be missed."

Norton joined FKEC as a Groundman in 1981 and worked his way through the Apprentice Lineman Program. He completed the program becoming a Journeyman Lineman, followed by a promotion to Lead Serviceman. After a decade of managing the Marathon Service Crews, Norton was promoted to Marathon Service Department Supervisor. As supervisor he oversaw both the meter and service departments in Marathon.

In addition to his duties as Service Supervisor, Norton also served on the Apprentice Lineman Committee.

Norton is looking forward to relaxing during his retirement and of course enjoying some golf.
