Outage Report: Two-Hour Outage in Islamorada

Officials at Florida Keys Electric Cooperative report that at 9:32 p.m. on January 10, a failed hot line clamp caused a conductor to fail in front of Kaiyo Restaurant in Islamorada at mile marker 81.7.

The resulting outage lasted nearly two hours while crews replaced the damaged equipment. Power was restored at 11:28 p.m. to the nearly 1,000 accounts affected by the outage.

FKEC's power system was 99.99% reliable in 2007 (as of November) with only 49 minutes average outage time per customer.
