FKEC Lights On During South Florida Power Outage

South Florida's widespread power outage on Tuesday afternoon had little affect on members of Florida Keys Electric Cooperative. FKEC's power system experienced a power blink system-wide at 1:09 p.m. and then a 12-minute outage in the City of Marathon. Approximately 5,600 member-consumers were affected by the brief outage. Power was restored in Marathon at 1:21 p.m.

FKEC serves 31,000 members in the Upper and Middle Keys from the Monroe County Line to the top of the Seven Mile Bridge.
