New at the Annual Meeting this year is free entertainment by Country Comedian Gary Claxton, also known as "The Mouth of the South."
Claxton has performed live at the Grand Ole Opry and Las Vegas, appeared on a variety of television programs, recorded several comedy albums, and will share his hillbilly humor with FKEC members before this year's meeting.
Claxton will perform at 12:15 p.m. in the auditorium before FKEC's meeting at 1 p.m. To learn more about him, visit: www.mouthofsouthgc.com
FKEC registration opens at 11 a.m. The electric cooperative will provide free registration gifts and free lunch for registered members, as well as a rock wall and giant slide for the children. The meeting will be followed by FKEC's annual prize raffle in the auditorium.
The 12th Annual Sun 103 Kids Show will be held in conjunction with FKEC's meeting. The Kids Show will be in the gymnasium from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and feature interactive booths, music and entertainment for parents and children ages 1-14. New at the Kids Show this year is Casting for Cats and The Gathering of the Animals welcoming animal exhibits from Everglades Outpost, Vanishing Species, Wild Bird Center, World Parrot Mission and the National Marine Sanctuary. Admission to the Kids Show benefits Coral Shores High School.
Like this country's 900 other electric cooperatives, FKEC holds an Annual Meeting for its members every Spring. The meeting serves as a forum to share the previous year's financial and business reports and to keep members informed of progress in various power system upgrades and developments.
