Power Outage Report: Crawl Key to Islamorada

A power outage occurred at 12:14 a.m. on July 1 affecting all members living between Florida Keys Electric Cooperative's Crawl Key and Islamorada substations. The late night outage affected 3,128 members on both the ocean side and bay side between mile marker 66.9 and 80.7.

The cause remains unknown but a thunderstorm was in the area at the time. FKEC restored all power to the area by 12:54 a.m.

In 2008, FKEC's overall system reliability was 99.99% with an average of only 45 minutes out per customer for the year. This is four times more reliable than the national average of 202 minutes for all U.S. cooperatives.
