Scam Alert - Knowledge is PowerScammers are actively targeting utility customers with phone calls, emails, and text messages that falsely claim your power will be disconnected unless you pay immediately. These threats are fraudulent. Stay alert, and please help protect your family, friends, and neighbors by spreading the word.

To pay your bill safely:

  • By phone: Call our secure automated system at (855) 940-4007, or dial (305) 852-2431 to speak with an FKEC representative.
  • Online: SmartHub
  • In person: Pay at any FKEC office. No appointment is needed.

Important: If you’re asked to call a different number or use a payment method not listed above, it’s a scam. Also, FKEC always notifies consumers of overdue bills before calling to disconnect service.

FKEC never accepts prepaid debit cards (such as Green Dot or Reloadit), wire transfers, cryptocurrency, or mobile payment apps like Cash App, Zelle, or Venmo.

If you receive a suspicious call, or any call, email, or visit threatening to disconnect your power, call FKEC at (305) 852-2431 immediately to ensure you are speaking to a bona fide FKEC employee. Operators are available 24 hours, 7 days a week.

Scam Tactics To Be Aware Of

  • Caller ID spoofing: The caller ID may falsely display as “FKEC.”
  • Fake automated greetings: Scammers use recordings to mimic FKEC’s real phone system.
    False technician visits: The caller may claim a technician is en route and demand immediate payment to avoid “meter failure.”
  • Prepaid card scams: Instructions to buy a prepaid card and provide the number are always a scam.
  • Appointment misinformation: Scammers may say you need an appointment to pay in person—this is false. FKEC offices and drive-thrus are open Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with no appointment required.

What You Should Know
