Underground Equipment Inspection
FKEC is conducting inspections of its underground distribution system starting May 18 to ensure continued reliability and safety. This proactive project, conducted by OSMOSE, is expected to last 8 to 12 weeks.

At 5:32 a.m. on December 14, adverse weather caused a widespread transmission power outage impacting approximately 14,200 FKEC member-consumers from Snake Creek Bridge in Islamorada through Marathon.
Pole Removal at Sea Oats Beach Requires US 1 Night-Time Lane Closures
Starting June 12, 2023, Florida Keys Electric Cooperative contract crews will begin removing 37 out-of-service utility poles along the northbound side of US 1 along Sea Oats Beach in Islamorada, mile marker 75.5 to 73.5.

Florida Keys Electric Co-op’s power system held up well overnight as Eta impacted the Florida Keys. As of 9 a.m. this morning (Nov. 9), 6 outages are affecting 204 meters, primarily in the Upper Keys.
